Aug. 21 "Une Semaine de Bonte" by Max Ernst

Outside a little town, in the streets, a young beautiful lady moves rhythmically. The lady, in the deepest part of her heart wants to learn how to dance. Dancing outside with her is her "only" fellow bird feathered friend. In sudden happenstance, the young lady dies from unknown causes. The male bird, we found out, is secretly her guardian angel that has watched over her these many years and has become very close with her. The feathered angel becomes stricken with grief that her dear human friend has died so suddenly and decides to bury her. Burying the young lady in a nicely decorated coffin, he bids goodbye. Overburdened with the thought that he, was the cause of her death he decides takes it upon himself to talk to another one of the fellow angels in the court. He explains to her the unknown reasons and the sudden happenstance of the death of his dear friend. In immense worry and feeling those close feelings of his dear friendship with the young lady he asks for the revival of his friend. The fellow angel tells him in exchange for the life of his dear friend he must accept the fact that she can only allow her a few months on Earth. He asks why his friend is only allowed those few months and realizes he has not taken head to his changing appearance as he suddenly becomes more and more human, which is the result of his beating, and overburdened heart of the love he feels. He sees his changing human form and is told by the fellow angel that with his changing appearance it can’t be stopped, as he is already too human, and so he must accept the fact his dear friend's life must still be given up because as it is said every individual can't live forever. Months pass and his dear friend is sent back to him alive and well. The male "chicken" over the months forgets to head the consequences of his pleas to the fellow angel. The last day of the last month his friend has to live comes upon him fast and he heads to her room, forgetful of what is to come, he finds his dear friend splayed out on the floor dead and cold. Overstricken with more intense grief he screams in agony and despair as he lets his feelings overshadow the warning of the fellow angel. His love was great for the young lady he befriended and that love suddenly became too much for him to bear. The fellow feathered angel took his dear friend as promised and life continued on for the male feathered angel. Fully human, contained with a fully formed human soul, the "chicken" carries on his life re-creating the dances his dear friend loved to do. He wants to live his life keeping her memory alive and so as he does the fellow angel, that took his dear friend, saw his commitment and immense love for the friendship he had with her and gave him the company of a new friend.
